Cookie Policy – Sailoe

Cookie Policy

Last updated: August 2025

This Cookie Policy explains what cookies and similar technologies are, how we use them on the Sailoe website, how you can control them, and your related rights. This policy is part of our broader Privacy Policy.

1. Definitions

Cookies are small data files placed on your device (computer or mobile) by the server of the website you visit. They allow the website to store information in your browser and retrieve it on subsequent visits (e.g., session identifier or language preference), so you don’t have to re-enter it when navigating between pages.

The term “cookies” in this policy also covers similar technologies used in environments where traditional cookies may not work (such as mobile apps).

Only the issuer of a cookie can read or modify the information it contains.

There are two main types of cookies:

  • Session cookies that disappear when you close your browser;
  • Persistent cookies that remain on your device until they expire or you delete them.

When you visit the Sailoe site, cookies may be placed on your device. Third-party cookies may also be used to track your browsing across other sites that include components from those third parties.

2. Which cookies do we use and why?

The cookies used on this site fall into the following categories:

  • Functional & security cookies: strictly necessary for the functioning of the site (e.g., login/session management, technical compatibility). They are set by Sailoe and retained up to 13 months for general functionality; authentication-level cookies (e.g., remembering a logged-in email) may have shorter lifespans (e.g., 7 days).
  • Personalization cookies: adapt content and user experience based on your behavior, device, or preferences to make the site feel more tailored.
  • Analytics & performance cookies: help us understand usage patterns, measure site performance, and improve content and services. They also allow measuring ad effectiveness (clicks, conversions). These are retained up to 14 months.
  • Advertising / retargeting cookies: enable personalized advertising. Refusing these does not stop ads from appearing, but they will not be tailored to your interests.
  • Social media cookies: used to enable sharing content on social platforms. These are set by the social networks themselves; Sailoe does not control their duration.

3. Consent

When you first access our site, a cookie banner appears allowing you to choose which categories of cookies you accept or reject. You can modify these choices at any time via the “Cookie Preferences” panel.

If you refuse certain cookies, a refusal cookie will be stored to remember your choice. If you delete that refusal indicator, we will no longer be able to recognize that you opted out.

Refusing necessary cookies may degrade site functionality (e.g., language settings, technical compatibility, region detection); Sailoe cannot be held responsible for reduced performance resulting from disabling such cookies.

When you accept cookies, a consent cookie is placed to record that preference. Consent or refusal cookies must remain on your device to persist your settings; you can also manage cookies directly via your browser (see next section).

4. Managing cookies

4.1 On-site preference center

You can manage and adjust your cookie choices at any time by opening the “Cookie Preferences” panel, usually available via the banner or a persistent link at the bottom of the site.

4.2 Browser settings

Most browsers accept cookies by default. You can configure your browser to accept all, reject all, or selectively accept cookies based on their issuer. You can also regularly clear cookies from your device through your browser settings. Make sure to configure each browser on each device you use (desktop, tablet, mobile).

Instructions for major browsers are available in their help menus (examples):

  • Internet Explorer™: consult Microsoft support;
  • Safari™: see Apple support;
  • Chrome™: see Google support;
  • Firefox™: see Mozilla support;
  • Opera™: see Opera support.

4.3 Mobile devices

On iOS devices, you can limit tracking by enabling “Limit Ad Tracking.”

On Android, you can disable interest-based ads in the advertising settings.

4.4 Third-party opt-out tools

You may opt out of certain third-party cookies directly on the provider’s site. For example:

  • To opt out of Google Analytics: use Google’s opt-out tool;
  • To express cookie preferences across multiple ad platforms: use the European digital advertising self-regulatory platform (such as the one managed by EDAA).

Note: these mechanisms do not remove all ads; they only prevent personalized advertising based on those cookies.

5. Sailoe's commitments regarding cookies

Sailoe is committed to protecting your privacy. Cookies do not allow us to access your personal identity directly (e.g., name, birth date, phone number) unless you provide that information through other means.

6. Personal data and cookies

In the context described above, Sailoe may process personal data collected via cookies as data controller. Collected data is used only for the purposes described and shared only with authorized internal teams or third-party providers (e.g., analytics or marketing tools) under contract.

Personal data collected through cookies is retained no longer than necessary for the purpose of each cookie.

Under the GDPR, you have the rights to:

  • Access your data
  • Rectify incorrect data
  • Erase data
  • Restrict processing
  • Object to processing
  • Data portability
  • Define post-mortem directives

Requests to exercise your rights can be sent to: charter@sailoe.com. You may be asked to verify your identity if there is doubt. If you believe your rights have not been respected, you can file a complaint with the relevant data protection authority (e.g., CNIL in France).
